Since 1957 the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion, home of the Bienal de São Paulo, has been the stage of one of the largest and most important art exhibitions in the world: the Bienal de São Paulo exhibition. Designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer, the building - a true icon of Brazilian modernist architecture and the cosmopolitan vocation of the city of São Paulo - has landmark status for Historical Heritage (COMPRESP, CONDEPHAT and IPHAN) and was granted to the Fundação as a loan by the City of São Paulo.
As guardian of this valuable heritage and in full conformity with its fundamental role in the cultural promotion of the City of São Paulo, the Bienal de São Paulo allows assignment of the Pavilion for activities related to creative economy - audiovisual, books, fashion, design, software development, tourism, sports, arts and antiques, gastronomy, advertising and architecture.
Recognizing the transformative potential of activities based on products, services and cultural manifestations, the Bienal de São Paulo places its home as the largest space for events directly connected to industries of applied creativity that contribute to the socio-economic development of the city.
