“The precision of this design, from what was known as the ‘Swiss school’ corroborates the expression “Iess is more”. The number 9 gives rise to nine squares, and the visual sequence alludes to transformations in art at the time: it starts from the pattern of a clearly-defined field bounded by a frame, and moves toward a field in which there is no distinction between “within” and the frame itself; its boundaries become indefinable”.
