On December 19, 2013, the Pará Arts Institute (IAP) hosted another of the 31st Bienal’s Open Meetings. Held in a former army barracks from the first half of the 19th Century, the IAP was established in 1999 in Justo Chermont Square in Belém do Pará. Its original mission was to promote and foster Amazonian art and cultural diversity from a contemporary perspective. Today, it offers research grants, courses and workshops.
