Time in Alcântara

Artist Yuri Firmeza talks about the filming of Nothing is, one of the projects he will present at #31Bienal. The shooting took place in the city of Alcântara, Maranhão, in June this year.

“The time in the Quilombo, the ruins, the Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit, hearing the old ladies sing and play, the Cajual island where dinosaur fossils were found and where a rocket lauching station stands today, a baroque music festival that happened inside a church in which only white people could attend… That place is a world of portals, each one more fantastic than the other”
